Meet Alicia

Alicia Byrd

The founder and CEO of Ambit Consulting, Alicia Byrd has held both corporate and legal operational roles spanning over twenty years. She holds a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Arizona Global Campus, and an Associate’s of Paralegal Studies.

Cutting her teeth in local and regional restaurant management prior to becoming a paralegal, the hustle of each was ingrained early in her career. After several years with debtor and creditor’s rights law firms and a Chapter 13 Trustee, she moved into the mortgage servicing industry with JPMorgan Chase, auditing legal vendor performance and leveraging her legal knowledge to improve all bankruptcy processes.

Discovering that process improvement and connecting lines of business to run seamlessly was an exciting progression of her skills, she moved into a business analyst role to holistically connect the impacts of bankruptcy to all other areas of mortgage servicing, including loss mitigation, collections, and investor claims. This grew beyond mortgage servicing into firm wide training and consultation of the bankruptcy process for Auto, Credit Card, Small Business and Commercial Banking.

Her next move was to be an AVP - Sr. National Project Manager with JPMorgan’s Middle Market Commercial Banking. Here she developed skills in Mergers & Acquisitions, commercial real estate, portfolio companies, and corporate location strategy. The opportunity to learn from experienced executives in multiple industries was invaluable.

She moved to Flagstar Bank from JPMorgan to become the VP of Bankruptcy where her team led the way in default servicing with KPI scores, regulatory compliance, QC processes, and overall efficient operations. Her role expanded to include process, reporting, and enhancement oversight of all area’s in Flagstar’s default mortgage servicing: Collections, Loss Mitigation, Foreclosure, Bankruptcy, Property Preservation, REO, and Claims.

Throughout her career, she has spoken on business operations and management strategies both on webinars and conference panels with the Five Star Institute and its Legal League group, the American Legal Financial Network, USFN, and the Default Women’s Collective. She was a 2022 nominee for Five Star Institute’s Women in Housing Award.

Moving into 2025, Alicia thought that many organizations in the mortgage industry and beyond could benefit from her years of learning how a business functions, and progressively developing that business to become what its leaders envision. Her ability to understand both legal and operational process in many industries allows her to be agile and innovative with solutions tailored to her client’s needs.
